Insert the needle one stitch length away from point 1 and just below the pattern line (point 2). The basic stem stitch is very easy and done in four points using the sewing method as shown in the diagram: Bring your needle up through the fabric just above the marked line of your pattern (point 1). Stem Stitch is a 12x12 inch patterned paper with a coordinating pattern on the reverse. First draw the design you want to work on i.e a line similar like a stem.
